She submitted all final documents to the State Pension System last week, delivered her Notice Of Retirement to HR yesterday afternoon, and will be informing select coworkers today.
A 70yo friend retired from teaching a yr ago and was still too passionate about EDU and 'students' to rest easily, so took up a PT teaching role at a local private k-12. 3 days / week, (shortened hours) very VERY happy and engaged, and likes the administration and staff.

Best wishes to DW, whatever the future brings.

What makes you think CA teachers aren't working? Before I left California last year I met lots of students at the park and dog park who were doing online classes. Who do you think was teaching those classes? Same with a college professor I know (state university).

Anyway like another poster said this is a happy thread and yes take his advice.

Congrats to the happy couple! May you enjoy your retirement years to the fullest!

During her 27 years of working with Special Needs Elementary Students she was able to get 3 non-verbal Autistic students to start speaking.

One boy's first words were "Shut-up Fool"

The irony is that once they started talking they would never stop. I guess they had years of pent up thoughts to convey.
