I didn't get any explanation either with the check. In fact I thought it must be from the IRS. Then I remembered I had received a letter a few weeks ago about these copay refunds.
received a letter today explaining the check for $80 would be arriving in a few days.
gotta love it
I'm not sure if these refunds are not billed to us again after Sept 30th. I'm not clear on that. I ask because I refilled a script today with the VA and asked this question, and the employee wasn't sure what was going on.
I have both, I am rated 100% by the VA which entitles me to medical, dental, eyes, oxygen and anything else you can think of. Because I am an invalid and I am over 70 miles to the VA, they have allowed me to go locally and they pay the bills. I was retired retroactively after I had the disability rating. That provides Tricare for my wife and prescriptions for both of us. I gave most of my life to serving my country and I do not think that I am getting anything I haven’t earned, but I am pleased with what I have.
My husband gets his medications from the VA, has blood work x2 a year and also visits his doctor twice a year. Phone visits since Covid.
We do NOT rely on VA for comprehensive medical care. We have health insurance that carried over when I retired. Husband has private sector cardiologist and urologist.
VA healthcare is so backed up and overburdened we found it unreliable.
Husband is 100% but not permanent. Which is really stupid of the VA because the health fairy isn't going to come down and sprinkly fairy dust to make all his illnesses go away.

I am in the same boat. One of the problems is that the VA will do MRIs and CTs but then won’t share them

Not sure where you got that info from but I have worked as a VA Primary Care R.N. going on 21 years and spend a good part of my day conversing with private sector providers that the Vets in my clinic also receive care from sharing patient info as well as faxing test results, etc. to.
If you wants any test results, etc. sent to your private sector providers just contact your VA medical records dept. which is called ROI/Release of Information and they will facilitate getting whatever you want sent to your private sector providers. If for any reason you encounter difficulties getting this done contact the Patient Advocate at your VA.
