Our gracious , loving, Heavenly Father....we pause on this special day
in which we remember the many blessings you have bestowed on us ;
when we consider just the basic needs you provide for us so we can
live on this spinning planet , it is mind boggling indeed . You have
provided ALL of the many razor edge precise Physics Constants that
are required for our earth to be as it is so our human anatomy is
perfect for it. When we think of our Sun being some 93,000,000 miles
away , on a vastly different orbit than earth, and erupting hundreds
of tons of hydrogen and helium every SECOND ... it is so awesome that
you not only designed and engineered our Solar System ..but continue
to sustain its synchronization to an unimaginable degree of
precision. Forgive us when we take such things for granted as we go
about our day , as we often put ourSELVES at the center of the
Universe instead of your rightful place. Forgive those who choose to
pretend you are not required for the personal highly engineered
Cosmos we have , and for those who are willing to seek you I pray that
you would reveal yourself in a greater degree to them in recognition
of their honest searching efforts. For those who could care less, I
pray that they would see how awesome you are by leaving your
fingerprints all of this Universe, Solar system, our Planet, our
Anatomy, our specific DNA , and Soul that makes each individual a
special person with intrinsic worth and dignity instead of the
fallacy of graduated unpurposed slime from accidental non living
chemicals in an imaginary 'Soup Pond' that accidentally burped
forth .

This Thanksgiving, be praised and honored for who you are , for what
youve done in sending Christ your Son to take our sins away , for making us special in your eyes, and for giving those
who wish to return your great love... real hope and sure expectation of
an eternity spent in your almighty presence and never-ending bliss.

Amen, and Amen.
Happy Thanksgiving to all .

Happy Thanksgiving to all .

Although I am not of the Christian belief such as you, I commend you and I can respect you for your belief, sometimes it is good for us of all different beliefs to come together on this day of thanksgiving and thank our Creator for what he/she has given us and that on this day we can all learn to respect one another.osay

I'm pretty sure I missed something. When did Thanksgiving become a religious occasion?

I think you are correct; you did miss something. Are you sincerely interested in learning what you have missed?

It doesn't necessarily have to be a religious occasion, it is a day that has been set aside to celebrate a bountiful harvest, a day of sharing, a day of appreciating each other regardless of what our religious beliefs may be, a day that we can all sit down together and share a meal and treat one another with respect.

This was the first post I read this morning.
And I think it is what I will hold in my mind the rest of the day.

Thank you for posting this message.

From Day One with Adam and Eve, continuing to the time of The Pilgrims coming over, and ALL thruout American History ... people having been giving thanks to God . It simply will never end . For those fortunate enough to spend eternity in Heaven, it will only accentuate . When we give rightful praise to the awesome almighty personal Creator of the Cosmos, we reap the joy in a personal relationship with him. And that is our ultimate purpose in being alive at this time in history.

The alternative is to be thankful to materials, chemicals, dirt, planets , blind evolutionary forces , accidental compilations upon compilations , and chance...for being so loving and thoughtful !

If you ever want to seriously investigate the Christian Faith including evidences for the Biblical Creator, Jesus, his historical ressurection from the dead, why we can trust the Bible , etc... the best internet source I have found is at www.impactapologetics.com . I just finished reading the featured book on the site called :'I Dont Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist' and it was very scholarly written and also contains the evidences for the credibility of the Christian Faith in the same book. Regards.

That's cute, but one doesn't need faith to be an atheist. However, I agree that Thanksgiving has religious roots.

We atheists can get around that. I thank abiogenesis and evolution for coming up with us and the wondrous world we live in.
