I came across a home that I am interested in. The Seller’s Agent showed me the property. But for some reason, I think she is more interested in getting a higher price (and commission). I was talking to another agent about this particular property and she thought the house was overpriced and sold a similar home for much less.
My question is can I switch agents. Can I not use the seller’s agent and get my own. I did not make an offer or anything. Is this possible? I live in New Jersey.
Of course the sellers agent is going to try and sell the home to you for the highest price possible, they are representing the seller!
Like Silverfall said, if you didn't sign an exclusive buyer representation agreement with the selling agent you are free to use whatever agent you choose. The listing agent won't be too happy because they lost the ability to "double side" the sale, but it's best to find your own representation.
Thank you. No exclusive agreement was signed. Both the seller's agent and the one I want to use has at least 25 years experience. The seller's agent is pushing because this house will soon be transferred to a relocation company. The owners relocated and they have only a couple of more weeks with their agent. Thanks again.
