On Tuesday I picked up trash on Wake Forest Rd at I-440 interchange. An NCDOT worker stopped and gave me a reflective vest!

Today I cleaned up the embankment on I-440 between Capital Blvd. and Wake Forest Rd.

I plan to clean many more spots before New Years.

Please join me in emailing the City of Raleigh and NCDOT and requesting they do more to clean up our fair city!

This entire stretch was covered in plastic bags, etc. Took me about 1 hour and filled 3 30 gallon trash bags.

Thanks for doing that, but what happened to all the "Adopt a Highway" signs, where local businesses would sign up to maintain a stretch of road ?

If you were willing to do it yourself, why complain to the city? Maybe they can cut you a check next time?

Littering won't stop until fines are levied against the litterers! CA fines them $500. Result? No litter.

While I applaud the OP's efforts, make sure to watch out for runaway cars/trucks and flying stray bullets. Working right next to a major highway is very dangerous and without proper safety signage and warning beacon strobes the OP is unnecessarily putting their life in danger when it's best just to go through the proper administrative channels to address the litter issue.
