Google, Facebook, etc are discovering that their Midas touch doesn't extend to every idea and that running a slow-growth business is fundamentally different from a rocket.
Raleigh would still have benefitted from winning, but the extent of benefit is a small fraction of the hype back then.
Raleigh didn't even get the minor support project from Amazon--which went to Nashville instead. Ironically, that project is being built my Raleigh-based Highwoods.
Apparently, Amazon is still interested in this area but probably not in the near future.
