I'm not sure but I do know that the tax bills change here every year.

If looking at a property on zillow click on the county property appraisers link and you can see how the taxes value and you can also compare the previous sales price to the following years tax bill.

Thanks Gary. I'll call the assessors office on Monday. My faith in Zillow accuracy on important matters is zero, based on personal experience. For general info, however, particularly listing info (past or present) it's usually good.

Another pic from our recent trip. My navigator pointed where she wanted me to go, and I duly steered....

This was cruising around in Burnt Store Isles. We eventually hopped on the Alligator Creek cut-through to PGI south and putzed around there for awhile, then out to Ponce and into the harbor. Tide was decent, but depth in the cut-through sometimes approached 1.5" and got a little dicey. Trimmed the motor quite a bit and went slooooooowly through without incident. We were in a small (17') center console, thankfully.

When you do, make sure to discuss the homestead exemption with them!! It is a huge saving, but you need to declare it as your primary residence - if you haven't done that in the state you currently reside, you may want to do it here.

BH, I was under the impression homestead can only be declared if FL is primary residence. In our case, were we to get a place there, it'd be a 2nd home.

And to claim the Homestead exemption, I believe you have to show you FL driver's license. So if you're not willing to give up your out of State license, it may not work for you.
