Does anyone know if this is really a problem or is it a nimby situation?

A mine anywhere is always a problem for someone especially if they have to live with the noise and pollution. Even out in the middle of nowhere once they're done digging they leave a mess that lingers for years. I live in the viewpoint and can see the dust from the gravel mine on the way to Jerome. Those people out that way have to live with explosions every day and truck after truck rumbling out to the highway. No thanks.

CHINO VALLEY, Ariz. — A Chino Valley resident successfully stopped a mine from opening in the middle of a neighborhood.

He purchased the land where the mine was set to be built.

Documents obtained by 12News confirm Cerroco LLC bought several parcels of land in the Cedar Heights neighborhood from Fortune Rock, LLC on Nov. 21.

"It just seemed like the right thing to do," Ted Del Cerro, the new owner, told 12News.

12News first reported on this story earlier this month as Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes took legal action to try and stop the mine.

It's a problem when they're too close to residential areas. This also gives fuel to the fire for NIMBYs to shut anything down they don't like. All in all, NIMBYs are just as cancerous.

NYMBY's with money and clout will always win. Those without don't.

The problem with NIMBYs, they are hysterical, narrow-minded, change-adverse fearmongers. They need to be called out for their crap.
