Looking at the map I realise the Turnpike would probably be a much quicker route for many of my journeys but can anyone advise me which exits in this area (from PBGardens to Fort Pierce) DO NOT accept cash as I don’t have a sun pass (rental cars). Thanks

Most rental cars I drive have Sunpass installed in them. You just slide open the pass and go thru the stalls. I'm sure they charge a small fee for using it, but I assume you're renting them courtesy of work...which should pay for it.

There are two that I know of that are Sunpass only. The Becker road exit (south St.Lucie exit) and the Beeline exit (Palm Beach Gardens exit). The Indiantown road exit (Jupiter exit) is right next to the onramp/offramp of I95, so you can travel it to avoid the Gardens one pretty quickly. The Okeechobee Road exit (Ft. Pierce), St Lucie Blvd. exit (north Port St Lucie exit) both take cash. There is one in Stuart that I believe takes cash, but I don't use it....so don't bet on it. Off the top of my head I think that's all of them between Ft. P and Gardens.

There are 2 types of Sunpass. One is pasted to your windshield. The other one is a plastic transponder that you can move from car to car. Just purchase one of those and take it with you when you travel. My husband has the portable one on his car and we take it with us when we are traveling and renting a car. No problems with it at all.

Yes. Just go to sunpass.com and enter the car information. It really is that simple.

The thing I don't like about the Turnpike is that it is a closed road. If there is an accident, you are stuck due to the minimal exits. I-95 offers many more exits, and more lanes in case something goes wrong.

There is a long stretch where I-95 & the Turnpike run parallel within a mile or so of each other. In this case, I-95 is a less expensive option. Also with the sun pass, the peel and stick option is cheaper and if you are careful, very easy to peel off and place in another vehicle. I have done this many times myself. In other words you don’t have to buy the more expensive transponder for $20+ that is made for moving from one vehicle to another. Otherwise if you don’t have a Sunpass you will be charged “toll by plate” which has a surcharge. Definitely get a Sunpass. But what do I know, I’m just a Florida native- born and raised 66 years *♀️
