Anything that involves violence, threats, destroying property not belonging to them crosses the line and should get them arrested just like any other similar situation, regardless of the politics or whether I or anyone else agrees with the "side" or not.
It's dangerous to arrest one group of people whose behavior falls short of abiding by the law because someone in power doesn't like the message and then not arrest another group who is engaging in the exact same behavior or giving them a pass because someone in power is okay with that message.
If the students (or non-students for that matter) were protesting Benjamin Netanyahu or how he is handling Palestine and staying within the law, there should be no problem with that whatsoever. Just because you don't like how a particular leader is responding during a war doesn't mean that anyone is antisemitic or has anything against Jewish people or people from Israel. And just because some of you all don't like what they are protesting doesn't give you the right to tell them they can't if their behavior doesn't cross those lines (violence, property damage, trespassing). Again, we have to explain things that shouldn't need explaining if people would apply a little common sense and lose the weird and dangerous adoration for fascism.
I personally don't want to see any innocent people getting killed during a war and I don't care whether they are in Israel, Palestine or Timbuktu.
Who are these “paid outside agitators” and where is your evidence? Great conspiracy theory though.
You know, Russia and Iran also claim any protest in their country is from “outside agitators” so you’re in good company.
Groups like American Muslims for Palestine, which some think is the main source of funding for these protests, with money funneled to them from Arab countries. You can see just by looking half the people are much older than students. At some colleges after the broke up the protests, only a small percentage of the folks were even students.
There is nothing organic about these protests, they are being planned and funded by people with an agenda, and it's not safety for Palestinians.

This. Across at least 4 campuses reporters/police/the universities are confirming these are not all their students. Most colleges require proof of student ID in handbooks as their tool to kick out interlopers when there is an incident. I think we will start seeing more about this when more information is available on arrests.
Lisa Fithian, 63 year-old "protest consultant," is one such paid aggressor/agitator for protests. Like a cheerleading coach, only instead of encouragement and team spirit, she coaches Hatred and Chaos to pampered, entitled students like Ilhan Omar's daughter at Columbia. Ilhan is so busy pushing her antisemitism in Congress and destroying the United States, she has to farm out the job to old white hags like Lisa.
Lisa, you are entitled to have whatever opinions you want. Believe that Biden and Hamas are kind, and that loyal America citizens are the bad guys, if that makes you feel superior. But you do not own the facts or TRUTH, and if you were to be sent to live in a country like Venezuela or Yemen, you would be forced into a rude awakening quickly.
Did they think that they would win over the hearts and minds of Americans not directly involved in this conflict by removing Old Glory and replacing it with the Palestinian flag? What a disgrace. I wasn't even born in the US and I would NEVER replace the American flag with the Greek flag even in my own house let alone condone what these ignorant fools did.
Those kids didn’t buy their tents, they’re being supplied.
Not sure about other campuses, but there are a lot of outdoorsy types at UNC plus lots of people have tents to camp out for tickets. I don't think tents would be hard to come by.

My kid was at one of the peaceful gatherings at UNC Chapel Hill recently, and it didn't look like it'd take much effort or money to organize. It was posted and circulated on social media beforehand and there was a mic. It appeared to be quite organic and consisted mainly of UNC students and other young people from the area, including high school students, as well as a bit of alumni and staff.
