Yes, and we can start by auctioning Calamity Joe's Corvette full of top-secret documents off. Then we can seize all of Calamity Joe's bank accounts, property, and assets. That ought to help fund the illegal aliens entering the country for a day or so.

It is demonstrably untrue with even a cursory glance at any historical tax data. You know, I know it, anyone with two brain cells to rub together knows it. Thing is, urban myths and political lies like these enjoy immortality because of the old adage - none are so blind as those who refuse to see.

But why refuse to see? The uninformed and gullible are hellbent and determined to remain that way because ignorance is bliss after all. The underlying basis for that being timelessly summed up by Plato some 2,400 years ago - none is more hated than he who speaks the truth. Most folks don't want to be hated, so deep down in the collective psyche, we just know NOT to speak truth, and further, we learn/adapt to not even trying to know it. Better for societal acceptance and belonging, dontcha know.

Two and half millennia of thinking has gone into why a lie makes it around the world twice before the truth gets it pants on, but to me it always comes down to what Plato said. Nobody wants to hated, and the human race hates nothing in the physical or metaphysical universe so much as truth.
It's easier to remember the truth then remember a lie.

Yes the idea/fantasy of that paying for everything.

Dems are thankful for the naive voters and always play their tune. Works better than you might think, a successful strategy for the dems backed by the media.

Obama biden said energy prices would skyrocket under my energy plan and voters loved it. So the threat of raising taxes is music to the ears of the democrat voters.

here is the funny thing about this...take anyone of the IDs here that are 'lefty' and have been here since 2017. When trump passed the tax cut, the dem leaders of both houses told us 'this is a tax break for the wealthy' and the lefties here, parroted it.

do the experiment yourself, use the search function, advanced search, their name, some combo of trump tax cut, and search 1 year and OLDER, returning posts.

Do this and memorize what they actually SAID.

Now compare, as everyone is forced to admit, the trump tax cut PRIMARILY was a tax break for those under bidens magical 400K, in fact, something like 98% of the people ACTUALLY affected, make under $250K. so lets watchem eat crow

:-)

If you look at all taxes paid as a proportion of income, then the richest generally pay around 8% and the poorest pay 12-15%. But don't let this make you think that a flat tax would be more fair. Tax dodges are rife, and a flat tax would just allow them to reduce their taxes further.
The rich should not have to pay more for the same government services than the poor. If anything, people that pay more taxes should be getting better service. How about an express line at the DMV, or their own assigned police officers to respond to emergencies?

JMO, taxes are need to be distributed across all economic strata so that people need to know how one funds government services. Also I don't believe in high net worth transfers of wealth without appropriate taxation.
Just need to included in the budget to fund SS and Medicare. If you don't vote yes, you are a senior citizenship killer.

President Biden has formally proposed the highest top capital gains tax in over 100 years. Here is a direct quote from the Biden 2025 budget proposal: “Together, the proposals would increase the top marginal rate on long-term capital gains and qualified dividends to 44.6 percent.”
Yes, you read that correctly: A Biden top capital gains and dividends tax rate of 44.6%

Depends entirely on how the media plays it.
People don't vote on their interests, they vote on their emotions, which are being
played by the spinmeisters.

If they were voting for their interests, voters would pay attention to the details.
58% of the households in the US own stock, mostly in their pension funds.

How many people want 44.6% of their pension fund profits taxed?
Nothing is ever simple. There would be carve-outs that change over time, so who benefits, and by how much, is very difficult to predict, or even understand.

Default They don't "need" more money - They WANT more money.

34 Trillion in debt is not an investment. Its a burden to present and future taxpayers.
Wasting money on 'pork' spending that only benefits the few is burden on the rest.

"They" get a cut of the money that move through their hands.
Remember Smedly Butler? "War is a racket". So is everything else these days.
Over-priced computer systems.
Homelessness
Foreign aid
immigrant handouts
Everything that passes through a politician's hand gets a bite taken out of it.

A recent example is NYC's mayor calling for billions of US federal funds to pay for the thousands of illegal immigrants coming to NYC. He authorized $153 million to a business run by one of his campaign donors, just to administer the funds. This is in addition to the actual payout of benefits to the undocumented immigrants.

All these trillions of dollars? They are all going to friends, family and campaign contributors. the money goes up the chair to DC, then down the chair to your local school, hiway department, police force, and everyone along the way is taking their cut.

I’m being completely honest here, when has the government ever done something quickly and efficiently? They never will because they know money will be coming in no matter what. They don’t actually have to sell something to receive the money at all, which leads to complacency. Zero chance a salaried worker will out work a paid per job worker. My own company, the clients who pay me a salaried monthly rate I have less desire to complete the work knowing I’ll be paid no matter what. The clients who pay a per time take all my effort/energy/priorities.
