Well I don’t disagree with this, I worry that offering further subsidies will just drive the costs higher. That seems to be the pattern of what happens in this country.
Pretty much.
If the government (read: taxpayers) is going to pay for community college, we need to go the full on German route where the government decides what you get to do. Or at the very minimum, the only degrees that should be approved would be for industries/positions that are in demand.

Yep. Dummies and low IQ dig ditches or hold the stupid end of the tape measure.
And you've been saying similar over those past few years including even this year, so what changed?

However, expanding opportunities for more education is not a bad investment. How many times have we seen people complain about money going elsewhere, wanting more resources to go to Americans? Now, look at the reaction when such a thing is proposed.
So if that happens, expanding opportunities for education on the taxpayer's dime, does that mean the money going elsewhere will stop?
Many of us already pay for education through our sales and homeowner taxes(homeowners get hit twice).
I think if Democrats want higher education or trade school to be free, and to financially support illegals too, then why not instead of forcing people to pay through our taxes let people volunteer to pay. When people sign up to vote, give them a box to check that gives them the opportunity to agree that they will pay those expenses, or put it on the ballots when they vote. And at the end of the year, everyone who checks that box will get the bill.
You surely would check that box wouldn't you, since the reasons are for something you want to happen?

Oh wait... B]Fast food is no longer entry-level work for teens and college students[/b], but rather a long-term career for this silly goofball generation of lazy morons.
And mid class and retirees who want to make a few extra bucks. Lazy people, some yeah, but mainly because illegals are taking those low-level jobs.

We are already paying for schooling up through high school. Do you see most people complaining about it?
If money from another program gets shifted to fund this new educational program, that's how. The "money" is already being spent somewhere else. The amount to fund 2 years of community college could likely be easily met. Shifting $$$$ around is the way to do that without raising taxes.
Then if that money can so easily be moved...was it being used for something of any value? If it wasn't of value, why not just stop spending instead of trying to find someplace else to use it?
If it was of value what do you tell the people that now lose that money? The answer is that they now find new funding for that program that the money came from. So by juggling the books the funding for the CC didn't cost taxpayers anything, but they added additional costs for the other programs instead.
I posted last night that expanding funding to allow community college free for a two-year program is a worthy investment, it would be beneficial for Americans. That post was deleted for being off topic?
Anyway, if we are considered a first world country, than we do need to offer free college similar to European countries: France, Germany, Greece, Netherlands, Norway and more.... all offer free college for their citizens.
Further education for our citizens would cost money, but that money stays here in the U.S. rather than funding wars or being sent to other countries.
