I know you're on VA disability but is there a reason you can't work part-time? That would help your plight. Arkansas and Kansas are both very Republican. You're going to have to pull up your big boy pants.

He is single, he's not gonna want a two bedroom or three bedroom. I've never heard Lawton called TrumpVille, that is bizarre.

I lived in Lawton way back in the late 70s, is probably the least desirable town in Oklahoma to live in, in my opinion.

A small town like Duncan or Holdenville have rents that are way cheaper. you can buy a house in the country for $11,000 around here.

I'm still wondering if I read the OP's post right....he moved there, NO prior research - and now everyone ELSE is supposed to feel sorry for him?

Dude - you're a grown man.....ACT like one. You can't just up and move someplace without doing your due diligence first - you obviously know how to use the internet, so you should have known all this BEFORE moving - instead, you made a lot of assumptions, then bad-mouth the place YOU chose.

Go find a mirror....look closely at it. The fool staring back wants to have a word with you.

He posted on CD but did not read anything or ignored it. Options for veterans and especially service related handicapped ones are out there. Lashing out about personal choices made does not do any good and will not change anything. He has not been back.

Let's hope not.

Did you do your homework so as to prevent any "depressing stories" in the future? I hope you land somewhere that makes you happy. Seriously. Good luck, bawac.

Thanks!

I've narrowed it down to a shortlist of cities and I'm pretty sure I've decided where. I'm not as hard to please as it probably seems. Just getting away from my angry fundamentalist Baptist preacher father and all of that negativity and the baggage from my upbringing that goes with it will be a huge load off my shoulder. The only truly depressing story I can think of is if I am unable to make this move stick and end up back in Oklahoma, but broke and unemployed. I'm going to do everything I can to make sure that doesn't happen.
