But some people get seriously carried away by gambling. I know one lady who spent $32K of her life savings. And one old lady would spend 2K in a day easy. I once got a $100 tip from some people just because they hit a jackpot. Our cashiers used to make up to $400/day on tips.

All in all, if you like casinos, you will like working in one. Its very sociable and I got to know a lot of people. We also met a lot of drunks who became loud and unruly, because I worked security and we won't let that deter the fun of the casino. That rarely happens.

Also, casinos here have buffets for like $4.99.
The few casinos I've been in would drive me totally around the bend to work in. It's all the flashing lights and constant beepings - and some of the rules I've heard from employees about what they can or can't do, and how they have to count out every penny at the end of their shift. The most ridiculous story I heard was from a woman who had a broken zipper on her uniform slacks and ended up standing in a room being watched by a security guard because she'd put her hand under her shirt to keep her pants up! BIG no-no - hands were supposed to be visible at all times. So she ended up standing for a couple hours with her pants around her ankles while the managers debated whether or not to fire her, and it was the uniform they'd provided that was defective in the first place.

Casinos are at the bottom of the list of things I'd have done if I had to in order to feed my kids. I never had any problems working as a cocktail waitress, and let me tell you, bars in those days in Alaska were a LOT rowdier than any I ever heard of in the Lower 48, they were more like the one in that movie Roadhouse. They also paid better, judging by what I heard from other waitresses, bartenders, and dancers.

If you have 25 years' worth of experience in property management, I would say you have no 'real skills' at all! It's not that difficult to learn a new set of rules for filling in blanks.

That sounds like a management company I knew in SoCal.
They're beginning to realize that, sure, they can ignore the "LandLord/Tenant Laws", but that doesn't mean that ALL of the Tenants are ignorant of their rights.

I was born & raised about 50 miles from Boston, Mass, moved to N.H. then to California. I had lived in LA. for 9 months and then in modesto for several years. I was heading back to Massachusetts, and stopped off in Tulsa to visit my sister on the way to Mass. and here I am in Tulsa, still. I make my yearly trips to Massachusetts, but Tulsa is home now for 20 years. LOL. Life is great where ever you want it to be. Tulsa has alot to offer as far as your life style. Living Lavishly, moderately, or other is your choice. Homes can be purchased within ones means. If you want to slow your live style pace, you can definately do it here, or quicken your pace. Many choices, & Many options. I wish you luck, it is a hard decision to make sometimes, but come to Oklahoma & check it out.

I live in SE Ok and I love it here...I was born in Poteau but love the lake here...I lived in Ft Worth since 76 and we were ready to get out of the big city so we moved here. We live about 9 miles out of the city of Eufaula(pop:2,779) on the south side of the lake(over 600 miles of shore line) and it is so beautiful. I have 4 sisters that live in Ca and I go visit but am so glad to get back home to the peace and quite, blue skys, green trees. We live on 16 lots(2acreas) and only paid 19,000 for it. We decided to put a mobile home on it rather than build but we are getting a 20x20 room added on next year and a barn. We bring in $2300 a month and live on it very nicely. We are all electric and our bill is never over $170 and most of the year it is around $80. Our property taxes are $264 a year but because he is a 100% disabled vet we are excempt from paying it and all sales tax also. That is another plus for OK if you are a vet. Come to ok an visit and look around, I think you will like it, I know I do.

Boyoboy, did I ever blow that! I meant to say that with 25 years of experience in property management, you have a LOT of real skills!

I really really wish this thing would let me copy and paste. It's too easy to make goofs with fine print when one can't actually see it.

You copy and paste here. That's what I did with your above sentence.

This company has been right in this area for years. The thing is, they are interested in the bottom line: if they raise the fees, they make more profit, not just for the owner, but for themselves. And unfortunately, most of the tenants who are most aware of their rights also happen to be the same ones who are definitely not in good standing [lots of back space rent owed] so they can't complain. The state law is very specific on that. I don't fall into that category, but my husband, before he died, was terrified that I'd end up getting us evicted if I stirred anything up, and after he died, I had more immediate things to worry about.

Hey Blue Skies,
I moved the big Apple to OKC. I lived on 1,000 with two kids for a year or two now have almost $1,500 a month and we do well.

I moved to Yukon and its nice, no traffic, little to no crime, clean air, my house with 89,000 in a nice addition and taxes are very affordable.

The only kink is the price of gas lately.

Enjoy Oklahoma!
