We are in Bridgton. It is a wonderful town that has everything but I just can't handle the cold, snow and the cost of living here. 314 middle ridge in bridgton maine. The house is currently for sale and my husband is making many updates. I am excited about his plans for the rest of the house. If it does not sell we will enjoy the updates. This is a beautiful town with many places to swim, mtns. Winter is just to long.

I think you can do it. As you can see the poster below us has purchased a home and rentals for much less. I'm not looking at that price range so I probably miss some good deals. You should look into it because you're used to small town living and maybe get to a better climate.

Over the past three years I've seen 2 bedroom and 1 bath deals around $50K with land. I'm sure they see this city slicker coming a mile away so there is probably better pricing. This is in Delaware County and the surrounding area. I've not looked around much because I kind of decided that it's a bit too far from Tulsa for me. You have nothing to lose by speaking with a realtor in the area. They could email you some information on properties so you can get a feel for the market.

BTW- Maine is a very pretty place but I agree the winters are brutal.

In Blackwell, Ok, there are several houses , 2-3 bedroom, etc. going for under $25k. But the job market is negligible. I have to commute 45min. For my job. But the people are good, mostly. The area is clean, rural, and fairly crime free. Just off the I-35 corridor.

WEll, Im out here near Alva and I'll tell you can get a pretty nice place for around $20,000 and that's not a mobile home... you can get foundation and everything. Near the feedlot there is some nice land, and you get used to the smell. The closer to the university, the price spikes up b/c they figure the high learned folk can pay it. If you want my opinion, to many of them thugs who say they are so smart ar e just up there playing basketball.

Wow, I am surprised. I will check out those towns. We really liked so.eastern ok because it almost like home. As I write this it is now snowing with sleet expected 3 to 6 inches. Well at least that is not much snow and it will melt quick this time of year.

now it's 2017 and houses in Tulsa and OKC you can't find in great shape for 17K but cities like Lawton or Mangum you can find right now with granite counter, hardwoods fenced back yard and garage for about 45000 Mangum I bought in 2015 a house 24000 on .48 acre with 3 bed 1 bath fenced and 672 sqft garage put about 23000 in to it and not it's worth about 62000 if I choose to sell. I'm thinking of buying and maybe flip or rental you can make more in long run. anyway, you can still get a great deal in Oklahoma
