I see a lot of beautiful big houses for sale in all parts of the state, I am tempted to move to Ohio but my kids h*ll no to Ohio. I show them the homes we could live in vs the homes here in Colorado, but they just cant being themselves to live in Ohio. Why is there so much dislike for Ohio?

Ohio isn't unique, or particularly cheap. It is emblematic of the Heartland. You are in Colorado... where? Have you considered the eastern edge of Colorado, towards the Kansas border? How are prices there? What about across the border, in Kansas itself? If we exclude the major cities or job-centers, the tourist-towns or the college-towns, we find that prices are "cheap", in relative terms, in the entire region east of the Rockies and west of the Appalachians.

Agree, spot on correct. Real estate prices are reflective of population growth and general economic growth in any given area. Even high-growth Texas or Georgia has areas well beyond the major metros that have relatively cheap or low real estate prices. Ohio outside of the three biggest metro areas has low population growth, and in some cases population decline. However in the past three years, more and more investors are looking into many small and medium sized cities in Ohio and buying up properties for cash to rehab and flip.

Ask your kids to say why they feel that way and what information it is based on. If they have never been there in real life or only as brief visitors, I wouldn't give that immediate reaction much weight to start.

Figure out what seems to make sense to you first then visit the finalists.

About 1 in 30 Americans live in Ohio and there is variety in city size & style and a bit in geography and weather.

More victims of Tik Tok? Who knows. Kind of hysterical innuendo from a state that elected Lauren Boebert into office, speaking of national reputation. Columbus compares favorably to Denver, and I would put Cleveland or Cincinnati well above any other sizeable city in CO.

Facts. A lot of Tik Tok creators love to dis Ohio for some reason. To a lot of people, it's the trendy thing to do right now on social media ("If everybody else is doing it, I should do it too."). IMO, most people now base their views of cities and states based on memes, media and social media. A lot of them haven't been to half of the places they either hype up or put down; a lot of it's based on hearsay and/or biases. But, they're dogging Ohio but this is the same state who voted for a woman who was an escort to D.C. Newsflash: not everyone in Ohio is MAGA!

SE Denver, Greenwood Village. Colorado really is the perfect state, but getting overpopulated and with that crime increases. A home in Ohio for 700k would be 2 mil plus in Colorado.

Better half and I are from southern Ohio and extremely proud of it! Growing up and raising kids in southern Ohio can be excellent IMO. Southern Ohio is extremely conservative. Even more so than Wyoming. We left in our mid 20's and have been in Wyoming ever since. We've excelled and retired at fairly early ages. We don't regret being brought up in Ohio at all. Growing up we could roam all over the Appalachias without the trespass issues of later years. We really love that about Wyoming also (massive amount of public land). which is why we're still here! We could live VERY well in Ohio compared to Wyoming COL but way too many ppl now in Ohio! But we're more outdoors types considerably. People that prefer indoors probably wouldn't car much for southern Ohio or Wyoming at all. We have family in Co. We haven't been there in 10 yrs. Not because of family but because Co is an absolutely horrible place!! Unless one lived up around Kremmling!

IMO all tok tik followers should get thee immediately into an addiction recovery program. tok tik is not a friend of humanity or the USA or Ohio. Go play on fecesbook or X or somewhere else, tok tik never ever.

Ohio is the Midwest. Just because someone on a place like toktik says it sucks is not prima facia evidence that it does.
Colorado has had a big influx of folks of a certain persuasion, it used to be a nice place from what I hear, they ruined it. But apparently it's "cool." Life goes on.
