Default The Game matters again

"Here we are, as in olden days, Happy golden days, of yore."

Shades of Woody and Bo. Even the Big Apple is thrilled.

<<It’s Michigan. It’s Ohio State. It’s The Game. And everything — the Big Ten East Division crown, a spot in the College Football Playoff, the Buckeyes demons that dog Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh, the Heisman Trophy hopes of Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud — is on the line.>>

College football fans across the world are focused. The ratings will be bonkers. The Big House will be packed. TBDBITL will be there, reminding TTUN fans they'll always live in its shadow.

No mercy will be asked, nor given. "Hang 100 on them?"

The adrenaline will be maxed out on the field.

<<A win by Ohio State would match Michigan’s nine-game streak from 1901-09 that currently stands as the longest in the series. The Buckeyes have won eight straight and 16 of the last 19 against the Wolverines dating back to 2000.>>

Get the beer, popcorn and other snacks ready, and enjoy.

Don't miss Lee Corso donning Brutus on ESPN "Game Day!" "Brutus is my first love." See 6:50 mark here:

I expect both TreVeyon Henderson, who earlier this season broke Archie Griffin's single game freshman rushing record, and "Earth, Wind, and Fire" to be unleashed on the Spartans today, and the Buckeye lines to max out and dominate the trenches. Destiny seems to beckon this Buckeyes team. Why else would a linebacker apt-named Steele Chambers emerge as a natural just in time to fill an important defensive need?

My belief is that Ryan Day has used the Nebraska game to prepare Buckeye QB and leading Heisman candidate C.J. Stroud for the Michigan defense. (BTW, IMO Joel Klatt is by far the best college football analyst, as shown in this video preview of The Game, and Ohio State's offense is great at tempo and misdirection.) "Bonkers."

I'm stoked.

I'll give it to the Buckeyes that they were better than I thought they'd be after they struggled against Minnesota and Tulsa and lost to Oregon. But at the end of the day, I did not think this was a playoff team and today's drubbing should come as no suprise. I'm glad they didn't make the playoff because they'd be smoked there again. Good for the rivalry to have Michigan finally win.

hoping Cinainnati gets in, though I'm sure they'll get smoked too. But getting into the CFP would be a great accomplishment for UC and non Power 5 schools in general.

I've heard several discussions on the Big Ten network that Ohio State was significantly handicapped by a flu outbreak during Michigan week. The question that never is asked or answered is why wasn't the Buckeye football team vaccinated for the flu???

Most of the reports about the flu negatively impacting Ohio State during The Game indicated that the linebacker room was especially hard hit. C.J. Stroud now says that he was battling the flu, his voice was impacted, and this accounted for many of the problems on offense.

<<Rumors circulated before The Game that Stroud and other Buckeyes were sick in the lead-up to the contest in Ann Arbor, yet Stroud played every snap at quarterback in the 42-27 loss. After the game, Stroud confirmed a sickness had cost him his voice, an issue that he attributed for several of the false start penalties and snap miscues from the Ohio State offense on the day.>>
