Update from Ithacating blog (including construction pics) on a small apartment building. It will add more bedrooms in Collegetown, and also makes for a more dense visual.

Thought I'd post an update (reminder) of the proposals for the Collegetown neighborhood. Here's a color coded pic of the central core of Collegetown with outlines of the locations for the proposals (similar to what I posted ref: downtown projects in post #129).

1. New apartment building on Catherine Street (in previous post) - the Orange outline

link (from Ithacating @Cornell Heights blog):
https://brancra.wordpress.com/2015/0...-update-62015/

2. 309 Eddy St, still under construction in the pic with outlines, but completed in 2012 - the brown outline (right side of pic)

3. 327 Eddy Street, proposed but not fully approved yet - the dark red outline (bottom right of pic)

link (Ithacating in Cornell Heights blog entry): https://brancra.wordpress.com/2014/0...town-327-eddy/

4. 304 College Ave, proposed but not fully approved yet - light green outline (near top of pic)

link (Ithacating blog entry): https://brancra.wordpress.com/2014/1...ollege-avenue/

5. 307 College Ave, approved, but awaiting construction start - red outline (top left of pic)

link (Ithaca Builds website): Ithaca Builds « Collegetown Crossing «

6. 330 College Ave proposed, but doubtful as proposed (too tall per current zoning) - purple outline

link (from Ithaca Voice website): Jason Fane development proposal twice the height limitThe Ithaca Voice

7. 205 Dryden Rd (Dryden South) proposal, soon to proceed with construction - blue outline

link (from Ithacating blog):
https://brancra.wordpress.com/2014/0...r-collegetown/

8. 200 block of Dryden Rd, surrounds 205 Dryden project, the previous buildings on the phase on left side of pic have been demolished - there are two yellow outlines

link (from Ithacating blog): https://brancra.wordpress.com/2014/0...ject-proposed/

Sorry about the outline job. I'm not very good with paint, and the old hands aren't as steady as they once were.

I didn't notice anything wrong. You are being to hard on yourself.

An update on the proposal for the Trebloc site downtown (see post #218). I'm not sure if this will ever happen, and the responses on Facebook aren't exactly positive. From the Ithaca Voice:

Ithaca project would cost $40 million, have 620 bedrooms

That would have been a nice addition and hopefully it will be back on the table in the future.

Actually it's suppose to be a subject of the next planning board meeting.

Here's a short article about the proposed new Tompkins Trust headquarters building and a neighbors concerns (from the Ithaca Times):

Article on an effort to help chart smart growth for the Ithaca area (from the Ithaca Voice). There are several links to the site Better! Cities And Towns ( Home Page | Better! Cities & Towns Online )which has some interesting ideas and I'm hopeful will add some sensible standards for dense and smart growth in the city.

Urban planners want big changes for Ithaca

Here are a couple more articles from Better! Cities site following up and the three in the Voice article:
