Next month Night plow rolls around & the annual run for the garbage hits the districts, lol. Let's be safe out there & stay warm this coming winter.

I attended the funeral for Sanitation worker Richard Timmins this morning and it was a very nice service. Bag pipes and all. Mayor Bloomberg and Commissioner Doherty were there. They both spoke in the church and said very nice things about Richard and the dept. The mayor spoke very highly of the Sanitation Dept. Rest in peace Richard Timmins.

A lot of acorns falling early on the ground. That supposedly means we are in for a cold winter.

if I'm reading this correctly, you are saying baskets are piling up with garbage and not being picked up b/c of the cuts. this would seem like a good thing to me. maybe the dep't will realize the consequences of all the cuts and not hiring anyone new.

exactly... too much time between pickups. everything gets marked as complete no matter how much gets done. supervisors dont want the headache and the paperwork that come with saying the route is not complete, and thats what they tell me.

I'm sitting in the low 700's and I'm still waiting... I would say you would probably get called eventually but who knows when. I would take the good job you have lined up and try and keep a residence in NY with relatives.
