I would say it’s harder to make real serious money here than anywhere else except California especially with it a fancy college degree and experience.
Would be an interesting reality show/social experiment: Take four people, same age, same education, same ethnicity, same starting stake of a thousand dollars (or less) and plop each one down in the biggest city in two red states and two blue states — say Jacksonville and Houston vs New York and LA — and see who does best after five years. I’d love to see a long series about that. Would the New Yorker do best? Maybe, but I’m not so sure.
