How come this year the Manhattan parade was on the 16th rather than today the 17th? Do they not do such parades on Sunday or is it conflict with the half-marathon today?

I was wondering the same thing and thought perhaps they didn’t want to do a parade on Sunday since it is a day of obligation to go to mass for Catholics.

Yes, correct. St. Patrick would've wanted Sunday to be focused on God and not him, which is why it was celebrated on Saturday instead.

Don't trust Google. They have a political agenda and produces dishonest and misleading search results.
