The Daily News article says the cop grabbed the cooler from a group of people in the area and threw it. They were just as surprised. It certainly didn't look planned.
Lol, did the cooler have anything in it? Lol I just think the cooler was a really random thing. I guess the guy wasn't going that fast on the scooter for the cop to have been able to throw it and hit him.

I first supported the cop until I saw the video. That was a heavy cooler and there was a good chance the guy would be seriously injured or killed by throwing it at him. Cops can’t execute criminals for fleeing an undercover drug sale.
Well another thing is, if he he had of been wearing a helmet that is required by law when operating a motor vehicle maybe the outcome would have been a little better.
But hey, if we keep making excuses for perps, expect the outcomes to be the same

Well, I think the cop did a hail mary move. He probably didn't think it would work but threw at him just to see if it can knock him off the scooter. The criminal wasn't very smart, if you're in NYC. They will catch you one way or another you're on candid camera.
The cooler had cans, ice, etc in it... it was a heavy object that was thrown right at a person's head as they were going by.
It was basically judge, juror and executioner.
Whether the perp "deserved it" or not, it is not the place of the officer to use such force to kill the man. The outcome is not surprising to a reasonable person, death or extreme injury is inevitable.
Everyone here who states "oh the horrible criminal deserves it" is another person who has an entitled view on justice. They don't know the perp, what drugs he sold (what if it's just weed), or why he has to sell drugs (low paying job, support kids).
I'm willing to bet if a cop did that to someone you know and love you would not be as black and white. \

The guy had a previous rap sheet that had many arrests on it... he wasnt a prince.
