If this were nyc in the 40s the plan would have been to extend the 2nd Avenue line to the north Bronx via Webster Avenue.

I’m just dreaming of course based on how fast and lengthy they built subway lines back then.

Oh absolutely! The line from the Bronx into lower Manhattan would've been fully completed in like 5/6 years back then. LOL

I think the "grand plan" of the Second Avenue Subway / "T" line was to extend from the Bronx all the way into Hanover Square in lower Manhattan.

Will that ever happen? Jury is still out in my opinion.

But I am excited that this phase will be built, finally going through East Harlem where it is much needed.

"The MTA pegs the cost of the construction at $6.9 billion. The Federal Transit Administration— which is funding part of the project — estimates it will run up to $7.7 billion, a price tag MTA officials said includes “contingency costs.” "

https://gothamist.com/news/mta-plans...bway-extension

Hahahahaha!

Yeah right! Both EAS and SAS when all were said and done came in waaaaaaaaaay over estimated costs. That rat hole boondoggle known as LIRR Eastside Access came in at about $12 billion when finally done years late.

https://gothamist.com/news/mta-plans...bway-extension

Other sad bit of news from this SAS extension is now all the filth which currently is at 125th and Lexington Metro-North station area will be right on Q train just like they are on 4,5 and 6. This just piles onto what has happened with UES since SAS opened.

Feds set to award $3.4 billion infrastructure grant for Second Avenue Subway extension

The Biden administration is set to award a $3.4 billion grant to New York to extend the Second Avenue Subway up to 125th Street, Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer and U.S. Rep. Adriano Espaillat announced on Tuesday.
The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) grant will fund a little less than half of the cost of Phase 2 of the Second Avenue Subway project. The grant, funded by the 2021 federal infrastructure bill, is the largest in the history of the FTA’s Capital Investment Grant program, which provides money for transit capital projects.

Phase 2 will bring Q train service up to East Harlem, a densely populated neighborhood long lacking in mass transit options.

“This grant is significant not only in its size, but also in where it’s going,” Schumer said in a statement. “The funds will be used to build public transit in a neighborhood that has been neglected for far too long.”

If reincarnation is real, then maybe I'll die and reincarnate several times by the time they finally complete it.
