That will never happen because that neighborhood is too far from Manhattan.

Of course in the late 80s or well into the 90s people would have said Brooklyn, Western Queens, and Upper Manhattan would never happen. And yet they did happen.

Jamaica is close to JFK for those that need to travel a lot. Downtown Jamaica has been getting big investment from start up businesses, and there are a lot of government and medical employers nearby. It can indeed happen, plus there are nice houses in nearby Jamaica Estates.

Gentrification and major investment will ultimately happen anyplace with good subway and/or commuter railroad connections in NYC. As Western and Central Queens become expensive people will look at places like Jamaica. Investors are already there. St. Mary Immaculate is being converted into apartments.

Agree with the poster who said it's too far away to be of any use today. People who move there to commute to nyc will in short order realize what a miserable commute it would be. It can work if southeasy queens develops it's own industries.

The Blue print indicates that the G-Bomb's fire will terminate around Jamaica. I said this long ago. Don't let me show you the blue print..... don't let me....

Which is why investors will buy up land in Jamaica now and start the development process.

Harlem was once said to be too far away too.

Btw startups get tax credits for setting up shops in places like Jamaica, so they are already working on developing local industries.

In not too far away Ozone Park Resorts World is already the number one grossing casino in the nation and in the not too distant future it will be allowed to offer table gambling. TWA terminal near JFK is being turned into a hotel. The tourism sector is already being further developed in Southeastern Queens.

There is more to it than just being close to Manhattan.

Harlem was never defined as "too far away."
