In North Jersey you still need an attorney - and it is still more than in South Jersey. In South Jersey expect to pay $800-$1000 for representation from contract through closing.
1 hour is still REALLY short for a home inspection. Expect at least 2 for a condo/townhouse - 3-4 for an average sized single home; All dependent on condition, age, and how many questions you ask the inspector.
There are good inspectors and bad ones. One way to screen is to use one that is a member of the American Society of Home Inspectors.
