I have been through a number of 7 degrees earthquakes, but this 4.7 scared me the most.
All of the past experiences did not have much sound, except stuff falling from shelves. Today's loud noise could be because I live close to Lebanon.
This is why today I was pretty sure this was not an earthquake. The sound was so loud I thought it is something more serious.
Yeah, the sound is what surprised me the most. It was almost exactly like a train. About halfway through I started thinking wow there’s a sound with this. And then, my last thought right as it was ending was this is a lot longer than I expected.
By the time I think "Woah... its an earthquake", usually the shaking had long stopped. This time, the house was still shaking by the time I ran upstairs to check on the kids. Like a train rumbling by NJ transit railway is certainly an accurate description. Sure felt longer than 7 seconds to me.
I'm kinda wondering when/if aftershocks will occur.
Only felt one of those. The one they say was 4.0. No sound with the aftershock, and we didn’t really feel it much. Dog didn’t even lift his head off the floor. The one this morning, my husband was outside on some scaffolding around a waste treatment plant, and he said the birds all took off out of the trees.
