I wouldn’t call that a good deed. They’re required to follow the law as well, especially since in this case. This involved another person’s property, not just the government as “victim”.

Additionally, the landscaper in question was surely paid for his efforts. My definition of a "good deed" is something that is done to help others--without being compensated. The landscaper was paid for his work--but he had to scale a fence, and he failed to observe the posted trespassing signs on the other person's property--and thus, this is about as far from being a "good deed" as could be.

Well obviously contractor who ignored clear signs he was crossing over onto private property (a fence) and "No Trespassing" signs posted not just on said fence but trees and elsewhere on opiate property either thought he was either:

A - Doing what he was paid/told to do

B - Doing a good thing for person who hired and was paying him for the job.

Despite quibbles and crumbles from yourself and others about my OP title no one yet has offered a plausible reason for why any sane rational contractor hired to clear trees on one property would illegally cross over to another and begin whacking away.

Either contractor is an incompetent and or ignorant eejit, or simply didn't give an eff. Again "did what he was told" because that is what his boss (guy who hired him) wanted and thus it was a "good thing" or "deed" from that warped point of view.

Long story short owner of adjacent property wanted someone to do him a "favor" and get rid of those trees on neighbors' property blocking his view of NYC. That is exactly what contractor did....

I can’t understand this argument you’re trying to make.

Why would I craft a justification for this company’s criminality?

The contractor was wrong, period. They have every responsibility to ensure that the job they were hired to perform is fully legal.
