it probably has something to do with the scanning of the license plates to make it easier for cops to issue you tickets and make money which the police desperately need to serve and protect. my recommendation is to make sure you “click it or ticket”
Are you saying we should maybe…. Defund the police?
The numbers are smooth, and not angled like the letters. The fonts really aren't that different I guess, but there is definitely a variation. I'm just wondering why...
The letters are more bold than the first 3 numbers.

Reason: This thread just reminded me I need new plates. Mine look like they went through a war.

Talk about really old news! The thread is from 2015.
Someone joined just to bump this thread

Would like to see NJ allow YOM plates for 40s and 50s collector cars. Year of Manufacture.
As their palette of designer plates and personalized plates abound, it would be nice to allow, for instance, the black and orange plates, circa 1957. Think they allow YOM for much earlier cars, so it would simply be an expansion rather than an addition.
I have to say, New Jersey plates are easily read compared to a lot of states and provinces. Some license plates are illegible right up to tailgating distance. The fonts are too small and/or not contrasting with their background. It seems a lot of plate designs got the okay on decorative schemes without much thought for the traffic cops, etc…
