SEAWEED-
For the price range you're looking at, you'd be able to find a few places, condos and apts, right around Myrtle Beach area (Socastee/Conway/Garden City/Surfside/North Myrtle Beach/Carolina Forest/Loris/Longs) for rent with not a huge amount of trouble.

Coming from the West Coast, I'm wondering if you have an idea of what our sleepy beach town is like.. It's NOTHING compared to the beaches along the West coast.. and I mean that in both a good and bad way. Traffic is negligible unless you have to be right in tourist traffic on major summer holidays.

If you are teaching in Horry County, have you been placed at a particular school yet? This could help narrow down any given area(s) to concentrate on.

IMO, I'm not sure I'd consider Georgetown if you're going to be teaching in Horry County but that's simply my personal opinion. (PS- It's at least a 25 minute drive depending on where you'd be going. Count on more like 45 minutes to an hour..)

Good luck and keep asking if you have any questions...

unless your talking about southern Cali there are lots of sleepy beach towns in California(except summers) I am coming from Morro bay which small. I agree Georgetown sounds a bit long , a half hour is ok but a hour is a bit much. rrufast I see you are an agent, how difficult is it to find a beach box? Is this not a style in that area? Thanks!!

I would say that it depends very much on specifically where you are going to be working, especially if you want to avoid being in the center of the tourist stuff as you implied.
