CampingMom, sorry to learn about your mother's health issues. I know it can be cumbersome. I'm sure it will work out for the best so keep your head up.

I have to head up to NYC next week and am dreading it since looking at the forecast. Except for Easter weekend it has been in the 70's & 80's here for a couple of weeks. At least I get to go back with a little tan.

Went fishing today at the lake in my community and caught some small bluegills while soaking up some nice weather.... sweet.

I sent you a pm the other day about this area but I'm not sure if you opened it? I was basically telling you my experience about the area also.

I just moved from NJ to Myrtle Beach area and love it here. I moved to Conway which is right outside Myrtle Beach, so there's not as much traffic. The airport and beach are both within 30 minutes.

I bought a three bed. house on 1.3 acres for less than $200,000. My taxes are less than $1,000 and my homeowners is around $700.00. Flood insurance is highly recommended in Horry County because you are pretty much surrounded by water. Flood insurance runs around $300 to $400 where I live. People are very nice and weather is great.

That is what we did - sold a townhouse that we had and were renting it, made a profit from that, sold our house and made a profit. We were able to buy a house and it is paid for - no mortgage every month.

It has given me the opportunity to not work and be home when my son gets home from school. My husband does make less money then NJ - but it pays the bills for now.

Our HOA fees are $75 per month, that includes garbage, cable, 2 pools, (the one pool is so great!) a clubhouse with a gym.

My son also has tons to do down here, it is nice not being in the house because it is cold out. Today it was in the 70's and it was his opening day for baseball.

Lots of luck!
