Can someone please suggest a nice area and/or communities for yonug families with children? We are looking for a home in the $400-500k price range, community with good schools and amenities?

Also, is this a nice place to raise children?

I'm sure you'll get lots of opinions, and there are some nice areas around MB, but IMO the area is very heavily slanted toward tourists and retirees. I recommend taking a close look at the Mt Pleasant area of Charleston. They have good schools and your price range should offer you many options. Just my $0.02 worth...

You can get some amazing deals for that amount of money, even very close to the beach. I wish my parents had raised me at the beach! I'm jealous lol. Live in Surfside teach the tots to surf and let them be the envy of all their friends. MB is as good of place as any to raise kids, probably better than most.

I find many areas of the Grand Strand geared toward families. In my neighborhood we have a bike / Walking path, pools, tennis, playgrounds, volleyball courts, etc. I see many young families out with children everyday... but the next community over in my development appears to be mostly retirees. I would say it depends on your neighborhood.

I live in the Carolina Forest area. The schools are good, a little over crowded, but there are plenty of developments to chose from.
