Has anything come of this yet? If so, I'd love to visit Myrtle Beach again for this. But I haven't read anything on the internet that this became an area unfortunately

I had forgotten all about that. Seems to have died a quiet death. It was pushed hard by a former mayor who was subsequently defeated and now deceased. He was most likely the primary force behind this effort.

I may be confused on this part, but as I recall, this effort was also hampered to some degree due to at least "guilt by association" with another group of Chinese investors who purchased controlling interest in the Founders Group of golf courses around MB, who then ran into serious financial and legal issues. I don't think it was the same group of investors, but it seems they may have shared the same agent in the US(?) It's been awhile, and I probably have some of that confused, but in some manner the problems of one group reflected on the other. Then again, maybe the effort regarding the cultural center just ran out of steam.

Mayor Rhodes lost the election and passed away in January. He was the driving force behind the Myrtle Beach/Chinese relationship. Brenda Bethune is not carrying out any of John's plans.

It doesn't really make much sense.
