Looking for recommendations for home insurance company for our new home in MB. Right now up here in NY we have State Farm bundle pkg for our three vehicles and home. But maybe that’s not the most economical way to go for home insurance in Horry County?? Home is located in evac zone C and has never ever flooded but after seeing the effects of Florence and Dorian these past couple of years we are definitely considering buying flood insurance just in case. Assuming wind and hail coverage comes standard in Horry County or is that extra as well? Home has security system and off of 905 so west of ICW. Don’t want to overpay for insurance but also want our largest asset well protected against any potential casualties.

We have found that getting homeowners through an independent agent has yielded the best rates. Try Field Insurance and/or Massey Insurance. Wind and hail are pretty standard in policies but usually have a separate/higher deductible.

We find the best rates for our car insurance online. My parents had State Farm car insurance and I thought their rates were pretty high but, of course, my parents were in their 80s and afraid to change insurance carriers after having a couple of minor fender benders.

As far a flood insurance goes, it doesn't matter who you buy from...it's a federal program and rates are the same no matter who you buy from. You might check the latest flood maps to see where the house is located before spending the money on flood insurance. https://www.horrycounty.org/Online-S...EMA-Flood-Maps . We bought it when we first moved down here even though we are not in a flood plain but the rates have almost doubled so we dropped it after Florence caused no problems in our area.

I'm an agent in Jacksonville and I can help you shop/compare rates. I can also tell you if there's a carrier I don't have that would be a better option for you. Let me know if I can help
