Hi. I am planning and researching in advance for my relocation when I retire in 2022.
I am a single woman and currently live in my own small home in PA. I am considering a Condo so that I can eliminate the outdoor maintenance. HOA’s are new to me. What do they generally include in that area?
I see that they can be pretty high in some locations. I have a relative in NY that owned a condo on Long Island and it includes all of her utilities, so it made it easy to plan and budget her expenses. I am
Of modest means, and have to be careful where my money is going to be going. So really curious about this.
Any information would be helpful, thanks folks.
I’m afraid “modest” and “reasonable” are subjective. Some might think $1,000 a month is “reasonable” and another might think $2,500 is “reasonable”.
It would be helpful to give maximum price for housing, maximum monthly fee and the size of the condo you are seeking. The amenities you are seeking would also be helpful. Do you want an over 55 community or all ages. Etc. Then people can give more specific ideas for you.
If sufficient storage and/ or closet space was provided, a one bedroom unit is all I would need for myself. I am not against an over 55 community, however don’t want to have to pay fo a lot of unnecessary amenities. I like the idea of the opportunity to meet people my age, but not by paying to maintain a golf course that I wouldn’t use. So I guess I am mostly interested in a clean and SAFE living environment. With parking, that’s a must! A move to a new state by myself, is scary alone. So safety is my main concern. And must allow a dog. Won’t go anywhere that my fur baby isn’t allowed.
I would suggest you go hit up Zillow and look to see what's available in your price range. At least that will help narrow your search.
I'm in North Myrtle Beach and find it quite safe as a single woman.
