Where are you looking in Longs ? The bigger , more densely populated neighborhoods are fine . You probably don't want to be by yourself on a more rural back road .

We personally do not spend a lot of time in Longs . We come thru there often enough though .

Try this - https://www.realtor.com/realestatean...earch/Longs_SC . Click on a property that catches your eye , then click on the map and then click on "crime" . It will give you an overlay of what areas are safer and which are not as safe .

As the others have posted, why Longs? If its strictly price I guess but you can do better than Longs , not even a consideration for me.

I will basically agree with Beachangel on Longs . This is my personal take on Longs . It is being populated of late by transplants still of working age . People who want the fair weather , low taxes and COL . Most likely the 45 - 50 year old range . Not really full-time retirees yet . Doesn't make it bad .

I live about 60 miles away from Longs but our local tv station also serves the beach and the Longs area. Just from watching the local news I would never live there. It seems like nearly every week there's one or more violent crimes reported in Longs. I used to camp at Willow Tree Plantation which is a very nice campground there. But I don't plan to go back. Just my opinion but based on the news stories I believe there must be a pretty strong gang presence there. Just my 2 cents.
