Lastly, SC ocean temps in the summer are about ten degrees warmer because of the Gulf Stream.
There are awesome beaches in NC that are not barrier islands …we live in Calabash now while our home is being built in Ocean Ridge Plantation- those “south” facing beaches are Sunset Beach,Ocean Isle Beachand Holden Beach. They are beautiful beaches- well south of the barrier outer banks beaches

The beaches you mentioned ARE barrier island beaches as you need to cross a bridge to get to them. Myrtle Beach is a "mainland Beach".

Good to know! I have been to Southern CA beaches and Hawaii only. The NC/SC sound beaches sound very different! Thanks for the info.
