No matter where you live, you're not going to get away from critters, bugs and snakes and an occasional gator if you're anywhere near water. I guess if you lived in the middle of Market Common in one of the 2nd floor condos you might not see as many, but anytime you're outside, there's always a risk of seeing a snake. For the most part, MB does not have any concrete jungles because the whole area is just a series of relatively small towns.
Regarding Cresswind, it's in the MC community but not immediately next to the shopping area of MC. Lots are smaller than most communities but for 55+ that may be an attraction...less yard to maintain!! I know it's growing like crazy...just as everything associated with MC seems to be. Don't know about the HOA but MC, in general, has fairly steep HOAs compared to some other communities. There are woods near Cresswind and just about every other development in MB. And almost every community has some type of retention pond which is a place for animals, etc. go to drink or swim.
It's easy and cheap to keep bugs out of your home, after the initial application. When we lived in Florida next to our house was a preserve, if I didn't trimthe foliage next to the house I would get vines growing up the side.
This is how you keep bugs from coming in your home:
-Seal up any cracks, holes, entrances into your home. Use the foam in a can, caulk and if necessary concrete patch.
-Cut any foliage back that is touching your house. If you have bushes touching your house, trim them back so they no longer touch. And trees touching your home/roof should be trimmed back as well.t
-Remove any dead foliage that is within 3 feet of your foundation.
-Go to Amazon and buy hose end sprayer that allows you to adjust mixture ratio. Also buy a 1 gallon pump sprayer.
-Go to Amazon or the local DIY Pesticide company and get a product called Bifen IT
-Buy a respirator mask, goggles and rubber gloves.
-Fill up your house end sprayer and adjust the mixture ratio according to the Bifen IT instructions for outdoor. Choose the strongest mixture mentioned. Spray all the way around your foundation, 3 feet up and 3 feet out. Spray 2 feet around all windows and doors. Spray the eves of your house.
-Mix the solution in your pump sprayer according to the directions in Bifen IT for commercial kitchen use. Spray all baseboards, around all windows, all doors and where the walls meet the ceilings. Once this product dries, it is not poisonous to humans or pets (cats & dogs).
-Once this is completed you'll need to do the outside every 3 months for the first year. After that all the bugs will definitely be gone and you can do it every 6 months. Inside every 6 months for the first year, after that once a year.
Initially it's a lot of work, but once done you are good to go. Twice a year outside, once a year inside.
I would also recommend putting Bug-B-Gone granuals in your yard that can be found at the large box stores. If you haven't moved in yet, you may want to do a bug bomb. They do a great job of initial knockdown, but you do need to clean up after them.
