All of us who live there found it by chance. I had three or so agents I asked to find me a house. None did. I drove past, called the next day, and bought the lot that week. I wanted on a lake I could kayak etc. There are swans and lots of wildlife. Currently there are abt 14 homes in the subdivision.

I was in Merrick LI.

GDECAMP,

I didn't grow up in Commack, just moved there later on in life. I grew up in the Mineola area. Oh, and in 1967 I was a cute infant in diapers. lol Sorry...

You will love Brookgreen when you come down here. Though prepare to sweat in the heat of August. Enjoy!!

To check the flood zone of property you may be interested in check this out. Horry County (Conway, Myrtle Beach and surrounding area) recently released updated Flood Zone Maps. Go to Horry County Government - Home. See the link for Preliminary Flood Zone Maps. Although, I think some of the property you are interested in may be in Georgetown County. Here is the link to the Georgetown County Government. Georgetown County South Carolina Government. I'm not sure if they have specific Flood Zone information.

Just to keep up to date with the group, my wife and I visited MB the second week in August. We came home and put an offer on a piece of land in Cypress River Plantation. The offer was accepted and we are now in contract with closing anticipated end of September.

We are excited to say the least. We are planning on using Steve Fournier to build our home starting sometime next summer!

Should be fun!

My vote is for Woodlawn Plantation. There are three lots left. Of about 35 lots total and a couple Lot rescaled-- many lots don't have houses --one couple bought a lot to make a gorgeous sculpture garden. Others bought lots for pools or just for even more space or bigger houses. Drop dead beautiful sunsets and all I see from my bedroom, dining room and living room is water. Two houses are currently being built. One couple from PA and one from TX Twenty acre lake so most of us have docks, kayaks and pedal boats.

It may be too small for some, but I love it. You can use any builder. It has to adhere to certain specifications-- metal roof etc. it backs to Brookgreen Gardens and is minutes from Huntington Beach State Park. I'd send you photos of the lake and area if you have an email.
