Hamiltonjoe,
If you don't mind me asking what home builder did you go with? What area met your needs? We are leaning toward the new construction as well but would like recommendations for builder and area. We really like the homes they are building in Bucksville Oaks but don't know who the builder is and are not sure it this is the area we want to be at.

Hamiltonjoe,
We are leaning in the same direction as you. If you don't mind can you tell me who was the builder and what area did you choose? We are not sure where we want to live but we like the homes that are being built in Bucksville Oaks but would like to know who the builder is and we are not sure if we would like the area. Hopefully when we come down in April we can sort it all out, just hope 2 weeks is enough time.

We built in Murrell's Inlet, Meadows of St. Patrick and the construction is Flagship. We have a few friends who built with Flagship and loved the plans, they were flexible as far as some options we wanted, etc. They have sold out in this development.

They are beginning a new development for which they should be doing making now or very soon.

Here is a link to their site: Design your custom home | Build with Flagship Construction | Myrtle Beach

Next to us is The Lakes where DR Horton is building more new homes. We have friends who have also built with Horton and they speak well of them. Another couple we are close with have already reserved their lot there and will be within waking distance even though they are different developments.

We looked at Beazer homes and like a couple of their floor plans but felt they were inflexible on some of what we wanted. When we expressed that we didn't like that they suddenly changed their tune but by that time we had made up our minds that we also did not want to be in that specific area as we thought it a bit removed from friends, shopping, etc.

There are so many choices and we looked in virtually all areas at both existing and new construction. this is the first home for us after 45 years of company provided housing so we took nearly three years before taking the plunge.

Thanks, HamiltonJoe for the information, Trying to get all the information we can before we get there. Did you use a realtor or go at it alone?
