If you want to look at something a little closer to the beach without the traffic issues, there are 3 houses (2 new and one resale) available in our community that you might want to check out...The Park at Forestbrook. They would be in your price range. Forestbrook is closer to Murrells Inlet where your friends live and convenient to just about everything while being west of the IC (cheaper insurance rates).
Additionally, Flagship is getting ready to start selling lot/houses in the development just down the road from us (Forestbrook Preserve). You would have your choice of lots.
Both developments are about 10 minutes from the beach.
I am wondering the same thing. We are planning to move to the Myrtle Beach area from Delaware. Conway seems to be quiet, without the hustle and bustle of MB. Does MB get crazy busy in the summer...so much so that it's hard getting from place to place (work, home, errands...) Any insight? We have 4 children, so we'd like a neighborhood with a pool, playground, volleyball net, so we are looking at Avalon. Is that a good neighborhood? Any other suggestions? Thank you!
While Avalon is a great neighborhood, its primary drawback is that its main access to everything outside of Carolina Forest is Rt501 and you do not want to be on 501 on the weekend in the summer. We make a point to do anything that we have to do on 501 during the week...we will not go there in the summer weekends.
Conway is a delightful small town. We originally had it first on our list when exploring places to live but once we determined its distance from the beach and the traffic involved in the summer getting to the beach from Conway, we decided on finding someplace closer to the beach.
You might want to consider Arrowhead or Arrowhead Grande in the Forestbrook area. It's convenient to everything but you can easily avoid tourist traffic and has a pool, playground and tennis courts. It doesn't have a volleyball net, however.
MB does get crazy during the summer but once you are here for a few weeks, you will find all the back roads and ways to avoid the tourist craziness (unless you live in Carolina Forest...LOL).
Thank you so much! I'll look into the places you suggested. Also, I saw somewhere on this board about being on the right side of the line (lower taxes)... Am I looking in the right place?
Not sure what being on the right side of the line has to do with taxes unless it has to do with Conway taxes vs County taxes in Carolina Forest. The other "line" that is sometimes referred to is being on the right side of the insurance line (intercoastal waterway). Insurance rates are generally much lower on the western side of the ICW.
