staying in surfside beach, looking for things to do there (Myrtle Beach: coupon, rentals)

hello again!
we are staying in surfside beach in june. we have never been to the myrtle beach area. i do not like to do touristy things that are overpriced so what does that leave us?! we prefer more physical or nature oriented activities. are there places to rent bikes or kayaks? do you recommend any fishing charters? is there a good spot to just throw a line in the water? thanks for any advice!

Brookgreen Gardens is a wonderful experience: Brookgreen Gardens | Myrtle Beach Attractions

You can hike at Myrtle Beach State Park and fish at the pier but you will have to purchase a license. I believe you can fish from the Surfside pier as well. I'm not a fisherman so I can't tell you anything about freshwater fishing.

I personally haven't done a fishing charter but have friends who have (party boat) and had a great time.

If you like flea markets, there's a huge one on business 17 near Wild Water & Wheels. It's a fun way to spend an afternoon even if you don't buy anything.

Some good suggestions already given and here's a few more but 1st you do not need a fishing license to fish from a pier or fishing fleet/headboat, yet you do from a private boat or from the beach.
