Hi,

we live in Greenville, SC and are in the process of looking for for a vacation home at the beach.

Is it possible to find condos or small single family homes around 100K in a nice, safe area that is not far from the beach?
We would probably want to rent it out every once in a while so location is pretty important.

Do you have any suggestions where to look or is it pretty much impossible to find anything in you area in that price range?

We don't really have to be really close to all the touristy stuff (actually, I don't want that at all). As long as it is close to the beach, safe and in our price range, we are very flexible, when it comes to location. We can always come down and check out the area.

Thank you for your input.

Depending on number of bedrooms you can definitely find property in that price range. You should sign on with a realtor who can send you daily listings in your price range and subsequently spend time with you reviewing the area. Private message me if you would like a referral to one. Many people on this site have their favorite realtors that hey have worked with in the past.

Hi,

Thank you mkaz. I might PN you at some point.

It is kind of important that we have a beach nearby that allows dogs of the leash (at least at certain times).

I was looking up all kinds of locations and it looks like Pawleys Island has some nice condos for decent prices. Is this a quite, safe area?
We don't need to be close to all the fancey tourist stuff.

Can anyone tell me if this might be a good fit and if dogs are allowed off leash at certain times? Thanks.

Hello, none of the beaches technically allow dogs off leashes at any times. Certain areas like Myrtle Beach also do not allow dogs on the beach at all from middle of May to middle of September during regular daytime hours (I think 9-5?). With that said.......I used to live a half block from the beach in MB but would drive all the way down to Garden City just to take my dog down there to let him run off his leash, even in the summer. I never had any issues letting him off his leash down there. Not near the pier area, but farther down going towards Murrells Inlet.

In a word, absolutely! You could find condos in that price range all along the Strand. You mentioned Pawleys Island. There are three in that price range that come to mind - Salt Marsh Cove, Pawleys Pavillion and True Blue.
