It was on the beach, and I know the southern people don't ever do this. I told hubby they must be from "Canada". I just picked the most northern area that came into my mind.
I only was mentioning how cute their dog was.......kinda worth more then a nod. The southerners would have stopped and talked for an hour about their dog, their life, and you dog, your life. Big, big, difference.

Thank you. Now, far be it from me to say all us yankees are rude. They're not. It's just that so many, at least around where I currently reside, seem very indifferent. Kinda like it's uncomfortable to talk, smile or otherwise acknowledge others. Honestly, I take walks every single day (until winter) and pass people every single day that give you the cold shoulder and look away, sometimes before I say or do anything and sometimes after (which really has to be considered on the rude side). And it is clearly the majority that do this. Maybe other towns in MI, or elsewhere in the North, are just the opposite. At any rate, I'm still very excited to hopefully return south (maybe next year). Will it be paradise, likely not. Home, yes.
