There was a thread similar to this a while back that I followed with interest. However I never thought that I would face the same situation in that we reside in an HOA protected community.......

While packing up the car for our journey to Florida on Sunday (1/1) I could not help but notice shots fired in the woods very close to our townhouses. I believe I heard a couple rounds hitting the siding of my neighbor's units, but I did not check. It was not hunters (by the number of shots being fired). More like target practice.

In NJ (where we are from) discharging a firearm in a residentual area would result in immediate arrest. I understand the gun laws are a lot looser in SC. But there must be a law about how close to an area where people live you can freely discharge you weapon??!!!

It's funny that you posted this. Since I've been looking online at the homes and using the new crime map overlay via Trulia, I've come across a boatload of new crimes listed as "shots fired in area."

If you suspected that bullets were hitting the building did you call the police?? Hunters or not, that's not okay.

Actually a. I was hoping it was my imagination. b. I was nervous about going anywhere near to investigate. c. I was packing the car to leave for Florida. No good excuses, but I did inform most of my neighbors so hopefully someone checked for damage and found none....... Next time I will have the Horry County Sheriff's Office check it out. Hopefully it will not happen again.

The police were called on subsequent gunshots (after we left). Apparently the problem has been taken care of since I have not heard any gunshots since we have been back (past couple weeks).
