It's probably sea lice. Sea lice end up in private areas because the bathing suits keep them near your skin. Only way to avoid it is to stay out of the water or go "nekkid".
i know its crazy but last couple times a group of us went a some people had major itchy butt. they didnt shave before they went into the water but when they came out they said their whole butt/private area itched like crazy. so they went back into water hoping it would help and when they came out the itches started up real bad again. what could have caused that? some weird parasite in myrtle water? yeah i know its funny but we prefer not to have a repeat..
Maybe it is the residue from the Corexit they sprayed during the BP Oil Spill.
There's been plenty of time for this chemical to spread itself around.
Interesting...I had never heard of sea lice either. It wouldn't bother me though, or keep me from coming to MB, because the closest we ever get to the ocean is walking on the beach and wading a bit. I hate swimming in the ocean, it feels dirty to me. It doesn't matter which ocean, it's the same in California, it's just nicer to swim in a nice, clean swimming pool, IMHO.
The gulf stream has brought a lot of the chemicals up from the gulf. The govt just doesn't want you to know about it.
You are not listening to logic.
Natives to the area have experienced sea lice long before there were any oil or chemical spill. My grandparents and great-grandparents talked about sea lice. It's VERY common.
And if it was because of a chemical reaction, you would itch ALL OVER your body not just in one area. The itching from sea lice is a result of the parasites being trapped by a bathing suit.
And another thing, the oil from the gulf would kill the sea lice so the sea lice should be a sign that the oil ISN'T affecting Myrtle Beach.
Let's educate ourselves, use some common sense and not spread wild, unproven conspiracy theories that have no basis in reality.
I don't know anything about sea lice, but my sweet little dog, Baby, was attacked by a shark the other day. I managed to save her, but she is still feeling a bit traumatized by the experience!

If you look at a map of the Gulf Stream, it makes it's initial turn about at Daytona out to sea and it takes all the way up to the NC/SC border to make the entire turn. Since most of the Gulf Stream is about 50 miles off shore, and it is a very powerful and large body of water, the chances of BP Chemicals making it to shore are nil.
Any chemical residue is due to about a million other reasons and not the BP oil spill.
That would be like trying to detect a granual of sugar in an olympic sized pool.
