Since Best Buy left for McGowin, do you know which store will take over the former Best Buy location?

We know the same thing gonna happen to Old Navy next monah and Belk will leave there in the future.

Here's my thoughts on Springdale....

- Marshalls, ULTA and Michael's are here to stay. They are ideal tenants seeing has how the retail is going through a facelift. - Big Lots may be here a little longer, since they jumped on the misfortunes of LNT (in many places across the country) by acquiring their former store locations. The store there is a little more upscale than their standard locations.

Staples and Burlington are questionable. Staples is on the verge of merging with OfficeDepot/OfficeMax and if it goes through, the store could be shuttered, much like OfficeMax closing at Festival Center in favor of the Office Depot store on Airport that was newer and had better visibility. Or they could downsize into a smaller and more compact store like Office Depot did in Daphne at Jubilee. Burlington has been a space filler ever since Montgomery Ward went under and Toys R Us moved to their new store on Bel Air. If Target is pushed out of Bel Air, that's a perfect location to hit the reset button.

The other vacant (and soon to be vacant) spots could be re-purposed with other big or medium box stores. It all depends on the demand for the space. If they want to keep things status quo, expect to see stores like Five Below and Off Broadway Shoes here in the next several years. If they go higher end, it could be ideal for store like Trader Joe's and Nordstrom Rack. It all depends on how well the upgrades to Bel Air do and the state of our economy here.

Target isn't getting pushed out. Target owns the space outright.

I hope Rouse does something with that wing. I honestly dont know what they could possibly do with it honestly being it's so far out of the way from everything, but it would be nice to see some life over there. LOL.

When the Belk and Best Buy pads at Springdale become available, Target will probably jump at the opportunity. A Springdale site offers much more visibility from Airport Boulevard and I-65 than the south end of Bel Air.

Too bad they dug that hole years back when the mall sacrificed the food court and mall space for Target and an expanded Parisian. Had they waited another year or two they could have taken over the Springdale site that Montgomery Ward left. That and Mercantile selling out to Dillards set in place the awkward de-malling we have today. Since Target is likely staying put, they will give up and close that store before they ever bring it up to modern Target standards. At least they finally replaced the "orange" shopping carts a few years back when they began to rust and fall apart.

This store is so old and outdated that several of their cashwrap stands still say you can use your Marshall Fields, Dayton, and Hudson charge cards!

It might be great if Target could go to Springdale and create an urban style store similar to the one at Brookwood in Birmingham. (store over parking) I personally think the parking lot at Sprindale needs to be reworked.
Then taking some of the 'back' space at Bel Air for entertainment focus which is becoming a big part of re-inventing malls; not just the streetscapes.

I think a Lucky Strike Bowling Lounge would draw great crowds of locals and tourists at that location. These are upscale with good food, entertainment and usually feature ten lanes with four private party lanes. Cypress equities is considering this and/or a dine in movie theater at Brookwood.

I think both could fit well at Bel Air. (by the way, strict dress code and all that it takes to keep it family friendly, so no it will not bring back the thugs) I'm sure an occasional big mouth will have to be thrown out but that is better than cycling back to a place no one wants to go.
