I actually think that winter is awesome. You can snowboard, snowmobile, ski, etc. You can't do these things in the classic winter states like Florida or Hawaii. Not trying to offend any southners.

I don't think that's something they'll take offense to. I can guarantee you 99% of the people that live there like the fact that you can't do that. But you're wrong about not being able to ski in Hawaii. On the Big Island of Hawaii, you can ski on a mountain that accumulates snow in the winter months.

Same with California, Arizona, and New Mexico (though NM isn't really known for being a "snowless" destination, nor is northern California, but you get what I'm saying). There are many states with variety in topography and climate. Hawaii, which you originally mentioned, is one of them.

You should try Alaska if you really like winter. Its been below zero for about a week now in Fairbanks. Nothing like walking down the street with a -40F windchill blowin in your face (:

We, my family and I, Live in central AZ and let me tell you, we stay inside during the summer because it get's too hot for us. We are originally from the UP of Michigan and are considering moving to the Detroit Lakes area due to the outdoor activities whether in the summer or winter. Don't be fooled by anyone that lives in AZ, it's a hot box of a place.

more like 3 months... Dec, Jan, and Feb.. as long as it's 30 outside that's plenty warm for me to jog in. Actually it's that temp this last week or so.. get some of this snow melted and I may be able to get out and jog outdoors by this coming Thursday. Biggest issue is snow on the ground for jogging. After having days or weeks below zero, 30 really feels warm. Still, I'd prefer the climate of rapid city where it gets in the 50's and 60's.
