By the book, these camps shouldn’t exist, but they are allowed. Zero chance they would put it on paper of areas for either camps or car dwellers. You could easily just find one and park. We don’t have ideal winter weather to be homeless. I’m surprised the homeless living in these camps don’t climb on freight trains and south to live in winter warmth. Then ride train back north when it’s warm enough here.

Same here. I don't get it. Would rather be homeless in San Diego than Minneapolis.

Not sure, but Walmart might allow the overnight parking but one shouldn’t be obvious that they live in a car.
There are sites that tell you how to do that.

Or you could find a kind soul in suburbs to let you park on their property or even someone’s driveway in the city - maybe in exchange for mowing their lawn?
If you look presentable.

In some warmer states like FL - there could be places on the beach, etc that allow the overnight parking.

One should find a couple of such places and alternate as to not become obvious

(Duluth has a lot but it closes during Winter months)
A quick search brought up some good results for me. It's not uncommon to see persons staying overnight in cars on various side streets or in parking lots of hotels/motels, libraries, and churches (and I believe a church in St Paul has a formal program for houseless persons to park in their lot). I would try calling 211 (United Way First Call for Help) and explain your situation/ needs, they are a great source of information and referrals to various services, e.g. shelters/ housing options, places that serve meals, food banks, etc. Best of luck to you!
