We are probably okay for heat for the rest of the year but looks like some high 90s in the next week.

Have you noticed your aircon not keeping up occasionally? I set my thermostat for 73F during the hot days, and one day for about two hours the temp went up to 75F before going back down (no cooking or other heat source during that period). Since it is a brand new aircon, I don't think it was the aircon. My installer programmed it to kick into stage 2 after only 5 minutes at stage 1.

Xcel sent me an email (general public) stating that we should raise our thermostats 2-4F on hot days, and I think that they maybe had a way to doing that on their own. Does that make sense? The previous owner programmed the thermostat so that he could access it online when he was traveling.

I stopped looking for the article; can't find it. But there's an interesting one out there that
describes the MISO grid environment (the electrical grid which includes Minnesota). The MISO
grid has the highest 'phantom' power percentage of any of the 10 grids (wind, solar...).

Do you have a smart thermostat?
