Another team won a conference tourney, but had to cancel because the coach got COVID. I wouldn’t be too happy to play on that team.

It is in MPLS. St Paul has it's own Campus. UMD- has its own campus.

The University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, has discontiguous units but it is one campus. There is no University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, or University of Minnesota, St. Paul.

UMD is an entirely different institution with a different campus.

I had not recalled any of that, which supposedly occurred in 1976. The Google revealed (thru a Reddit post on the movie) that the incident never happened and the two players never faced each other in a game. Oh well, it made for a good sub-plot.

I'm pretty sure that the end of the movie (no spoilers) was accurate tho.

I think Boston Hockey is the true Number 2 to Minnesota.

from a PBS documentary on Minnesota culture...

I just watched that movie too. I have seen it quite a few times. I remember it quite well as I was in high school, Very interesting about that fight between O'Callahan and mcClnanahan. not actually happening. Did those teams play each other in 76?

Oh, I sure do. I took the night off work and came home early to watch that game. I made it to the TV just in time for the opening face-off, which featured "Gentlemen" Bobby Smith beating the hell out of some Bruin half his size at around the 7-second mark. I thought, "whoa, glad I wasn't late - I'd hate to miss a good fight!" Turned out I needn't have worried. I remember at some points of the game, if the camera angle was just right you could see down the hallways to the dressing rooms, and the halls were filled with brawling players who had been kicked out of the game.

God, I miss Glen Sonmor. It worked, too - the two teams met in the first round of the playoffs a couple of weeks later, and the Stars swept the series. I don't think they'd ever won a game in Boston until then.

Wait a minute, though - I thought it was in February not March....

Edit: I just learned in another thread that you apparently are, in fact, an arthropod. I was previously unaware of this. What do you have to say for yourself, sir?
